Ad House Advertising and Edit House Productions Win Four 2012 National Telly Awards.
Edit House Productions, LLC was just awardedthe Bronze Award in Achievement in Overall Production and in Editing Technique for the project "New Mexico State Police: Timestamp". "Timestamp" follows a day in the life of the agency's officers.
Matt Smith, Ed and Kim's son, was the lead editor, and one of the cinematographers for the project. He has worked as a production assistant, editor and cinematographer for the company for many years.
"It's amazing to be able to work with the New Mexico State Police and encourage people into becoming officers. Hopefully, the videos we produced will play a big part in people's decision to join the agency," Matt said. The Timestamp video was part of a new Training and Recruiting campaign that included two thirty second commercials that played all across New Mexico. The campaign also included two web-based videos that played world-wide, and a targeted online pay-per-click ad campaign.
Edit House Productions, LLC was presented the Bronze Award for Achievement in Religious Programming, as well as in Cinematography for the project “Mulungwishi: A United Methodist Mission”. The documentary was also awarded an international “Best of Show” Aurora Award in February of 2012.
Ed Smith and his wife Kim Smith, who wrote the documentary, traveled approximately 38 hours to the Democratic Republic of the Congo in April 2011 and had only 4 days in country to complete the entire 30-minute documentary. Ed was the cinematographer, editor and director of the project, which was nearly two years in the planning and production. “We were scheduled to leave in April 2010, but a volcanic eruption in Iceland delayed us nearly a year,” said Kim Smith.
“It’s an honor to again be recognized for something that I love for such a meaningful project”, Ed Smith said. The Telly Awards are judged by groups of television industry professionals. Smith hints that a trip is in the works to travel to Afghanistan for more documentary work.
